Internet Dating

There is one guy, ok, maybe two guys, who have piqued my interest on this online dating thing. One seems completely perfect except for being distant and has 2 adopted kids. The other seems oppositely perfect except for his conservative and sometimes closed-minded ideas. He is entirely too much of a funny smart ass to rule out. So here is my question for you, readers:
Would you date somebody who has an entirely opposite belief system than you? I'm talking gay rights, birth control, issues affecting race, you name it. Could you agree to disagree?

Dislike: Insomnia due to intense heat.
Dislike: Other people's expectations of me. Mine are high enough, thank you.
Dislike: Racoon eyes in the morning.
Dislike: Scraping ice off of my car.
Dislike: Sweating. Like: Sweating. It's a love/hate thing.
Like: Loosing 65 pounds and knowing I can keep it up, and keep going, even if some of it has come back.
Like: Driving at night with the windows down and sunroof open.
Like: Good beer.
Like: Hand washing my car.
Like: mermaid colors.
Like: Plants that don't need water.
Like: Running (you couldn't pay me to say that 2 years ago).
Like: V-Neck sweaters and cardigans.
Like: Waking up and having hours to greet the day.
